Professor Kyu-hwan Kim, Department of Library and Information Science
Professor Kyu-hwan Kim of the Department of Library and Information Science at Incheon National University received a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Monday, the 29th, in recognition of his contributions to strengthening intelligent information capabilities in libraries and developing professional librarian curricula.
As an expert in AI and data education in the library field, Professor Kim has led digital transformation education since 2012. In particular, his practice-oriented education reflecting real-world cases has received strong positive responses, and the AI literacy education program he operated in 2025 recorded high satisfaction levels, demonstrating the quality of the program.
In addition, Professor Kim developed the “Data Literacy Basics” e-learning content in 2025, improving nationwide access to education for librarians. Furthermore, through his participation in the 2024 “Research on the Development of a Training Program for Library Data Specialist Librarians,” he presented a standard model for data education covering basic to advanced levels, which has been evaluated as laying a core foundation for the advancement of future data librarian training policies.
This award recognizes his contributions to establishing a practical educational foundation that enables librarians to proactively respond to rapidly changing technological environments.
Professor Kim stated, “The digital transformation of libraries is truly realized when librarians can freely handle data and utilize AI in their work,” adding, “I will continue to contribute to innovation in library services through field-oriented education and the dissemination of best practices.”
