Georg Wilfried Schmidt, German Ambassador to the Republic of Korea
Incheon National University will host a special lecture on Friday, November 7, inviting Georg Wilfried Schmidt, the German Ambassador to the Republic of Korea.
The lecture, titled “35 Years After Reunification: Germany Today and Tomorrow,” will take place in the main conference hall (Room 305) of Building 2 at Incheon National University. Ambassador Schmidt will provide deep insights into the societal changes Germany has experienced in the 35 years since reunification, the country’s future challenges, and Germany’s role and vision within Europe.
Although organized as part of the course “Theory and Practice of Area Studies” (taught by Professor Michael Menke) in the Department of German Language & Literature, the event will be open to all INU students and faculty members with Korean interpretation provided.
Prior to the lecture, Ambassador Schmidt is scheduled to meet with INU President Lee In-jae and university officials to discuss potential expansions of academic and cultural exchange between Korea and Germany.
The faculty of the Department of German Language & Literature stated, “The Ambassador’s visit and special lecture are highly meaningful not only for our department but for the entire university. We are deeply grateful to the university administration for supporting this event.”
The Department of German Language & Literature at Incheon National University continues to broaden the scope of the humanities through education in German language, literature, regional studies, and cultural studies, and, as the host department of the “European Commerce” interdisciplinary major, systematically trains integrated European regional experts.
