Students from the Global K-Culture Lab, a Credi-T inquiry community led by Professor Park Young-eun of the Department of International Trade
Students from the HUSS Program at Incheon National University (President Lee In-jae)—the Humanities & Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project funded by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea (Director: Professor Ok Wooseok)—demonstrated strong global on-site competencies by serving as support staff during the 29th World Korean Business Convention & 2025 KOREA BUSINESS EXPO INCHEON.
This convention, organized by the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations (World-OKTA) and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, KOTRA, the Korea Office of Overseas Koreans, and the Korea Tourism Organization, was jointly hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City and World-OKTA. It was held from October 27 to 30, 2025, at Songdo Convensia in Incheon. As a major global business event, it gathered more than 6,000 OKTA members, overseas Korean business leaders, domestic and international companies, local governments, partner institutions, overseas buyers, and visitors from 73 countries and 153 cities. The event featured various exchange and cooperation programs, including business meetings, corporate exhibitions, export consultations, investment promotion sessions, overseas employment briefings, and economic forums aimed at revitalizing the regional economy and expanding global networks.
Students from the INU HUSS Supporters, the Global Trade Experts Program (GTEP), and the Credi-T inquiry community “Global K-Culture Lab”—led by Professor Park Young-eun of the Department of International Trade—participated as event support staff. Participating students included Hwang Hyesun, Lee Dahin, Kim Jaemin, Kim Minseo, Kim Minsu, Yoo Jinseong, Shin Donghyun, Lee Dogeun, Lee Hanwoo, Park Yuna, Kim Seungbeom, Koo Mincheol, Lee Jisoo, Han Haebyeol, Kang Minji, Choi Yoomin, and Kim Seo-ui.
They handled a wide range of responsibilities, such as event registration, booth and session operations, translation and interpretation, protocol assistance, support for overseas participants, and promotional activities. Students were particularly recognized for facilitating smooth communication with overseas business leaders during global employment support programs. This initiative was supported by the Incheon Metropolitan City Division of Overseas Koreans Cooperation and Exchange (Director: Nam Kyeongseon, Officer: Lee Gyuhak).
Professor Ok Wooseok, director of the HUSS Program, stated, “It is meaningful that our students were able to put into practice their classroom learning about global business and cultural understanding on an actual international stage. HUSS will continue to expand global field-based humanities and social sciences convergence education that connects Incheon with the world.”
Students strengthened their global business etiquette, international networking skills, and adaptability through this activity, and some even received follow-up collaboration and internship proposals from overseas Korean business leaders—indicating tangible results.
The INU HUSS Program, grounded in the core values of “Digital Inclusion and Global Citizenship,” promotes convergence-based, practice-oriented education in the humanities and social sciences. Participation in the World Korean Business Convention serves as a representative example of these values being realized in the field, demonstrating the potential for regional universities to expand their global partnerships through active student engagement.
